Global Mangrove Watch: Updated 2010 Mangrove Forest Extent (v2.5)

چکیده
This study presents an updated global mangrove forest baseline for 2010: Global Mangrove Watch (GMW) v2.5. The previous GMW maps (v2.0) of the extent are currently considered most comprehensive available products, however areas were identified as missing or poorly mapped. Therefore, this has 2010 map to increase mapping quality and completeness extent. revision resulted in additional 2660 km2 mangroves being mapped yielding a revised some 140,260 km2. overall accuracy was estimated be 95.1% with 95th confidence interval 93.8–96.5%, assessed using 50,750 reference points located across 60 globally distributed sites. Of these validation sites, 26 that remapped produce v2.5 found have increased from 82.6% (95th interval: 80.1–84.9) v2.0 95.0% 93.7–96.4) map. Overall, improved provides more robust product support conservation sustainable use globally.

Distribution and drivers of global mangrove forest change, 1996–2010
For the period 1996-2010, we provide the first indication of the drivers behind mangrove land cover and land use change across the (pan-)tropics using time-series Japanese Earth Resources Satellite (JERS-1) Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and Advanced Land Observing Satellite (ALOS) Phased Array-type L-band SAR (PALSAR) data. Multi-temporal radar mosaics were manually interpreted for evidence of...
متن کاملScreening for the Total Phenolic Content of Selected Mangrove Species Collected from Sundarban Mangrove Forest
In this present research, acetone extracts of Avicennia alba and Aegialitis rotundifolia were investigated for the estimation of their total phenolic content. The amount of total phenol present was calculated by assaying it with Folin’s Ciocalteau Reagent and spectrophotometric analysis. Gallic acid was taken as the standard compound and the total phenolic content of each of the plant sample wa...
متن کاملMangrove Forest Distributions and Dynamics in Madagascar (1975–2005)
Mangrove forests of Madagascar are declining, albeit at a much slower rate than the global average. The forests are declining due to conversion to other land uses and forest degradation. However, accurate and reliable information on their present distribution and their rates, causes, and consequences of change have not been available. Earlier studies used remotely sensed data to map and, in som...
متن کاملMangrove forests
Mangrove forests are unique ecosystems that are important for human populations.
متن کاملMangrove Forests
The mangrove environment is not globally homogeneous, but involves many environmental gradients to which mangrove species must adapt and overcome to maintain the familiar structure and physiognomy associated with the mangrove ecosystem. The stature of mangroves, measured by tree height, decreases along the following environmental gradients from low to high salinity, low to high wind speed, high...
